Tube Jigs along with similar worms and plastics can make great substitutes for live bait. Never rigged one up before? Here's how to Texas rig a tube jig complete with adding a non-toxice peuter weight with brass rattle. Put one of these babies together for excellent fishing in the Quetico Park of Canada and also the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. In the pictures below, the weight is non-toxic and the hook is a Gamakatsu Offset Barbless hook which is suitable fo all sorts of worm rigs and tube jigs. You can also rig up the tube jig below without the weight. Cast into shore and work back slowly. It's weedless and pretty snag-less overall. With the weight inside, a biting fish feels "bone and minnow flesh". Lots of fun to fish this rig!

| Here's a Tube Jig and a 1/8 ounce EZ Tube, Eco-Safe Pro tube Weight System with a rattle built-in (brass part). Made of pewter - and here I thought pewter was just for pretty, but still inexpensive jewely for granola-heads. | |

| These are Gamakatsu Offset Shank Barbless Hooks in size 1. This is the smallest size in this particular hook. | Here you see the weight as it would look inside of your tube jig assembled with the hook. |

| For scale, here is the same tube pictured above. | Here is the tube's rear end for lack of a better term. |

| Insert the weight, pewter first. Maybe it's just me, but this part of rigging the jig just conjurs up all sorts of comments. | Slide the weight all the way into the head of the jig with the side hole of the weight in the down position. |

| Stick the point of the hook through jig and the open end of the weight and as you see in this slightly fuzzy photo. | Pull the hook through to the bend in the hook and then... |

...twist the hook around as it is here. |
Then stick the hook into the side of the tube where it will be very weedless. Tie it to your line and cast. |
| Tip: When you get a bite on this rig, you do not have to set the hook really quickly. You can let the fish chew a little bit and then set the hook. Remember, that with a barbless hook, you don't need to set the hook really hard because there's no barb to drive in and these hooks are REALLY sharp! | |
Use Texas rigging style to make all plastic baits weedless. If you already have these in your tackle box, you should give the Gamakatsu Barbless Offset Shank hooks a try. Note: you can also rig like this for BWCA fishing but barbless hooks are not required. You can use any offset shank worm hooks and we have some cool new stuff in stock.
